It seems like a lifetime ago that I bagged The Balm's cult highlighter, but now after weeks of constant non stop wear I'm finally ready to share my thoughts.

This is the most intense highlighter I own, it by far outshines any of my MAC Mineralise Skin Finishes - pun intended. It needs to be applied with a light hand otherwise you run the risk of looking a hot mess. I find a fan brush works perfectly for application, you cant apply too much product this way, and using a fan brush makes me feel fancy - just me?
The colour is a warm, champagne shade, with hints of soft tan, this can be slightly overpowering for paler and cooler complexions, as it can look slightly muddy. But again this is easily remedied by applying with a gentle hand. It applies with a golden finish, so if you love warm highlighter great, if not maybe this isn't the product for you.
The packaging is so cute with the pin up girl's mug shot, on the inside it has a huge mirror, so is extremely handy to take out and about, or if your like me and like to get 2mm away from the mirror when doing your brows. I'm not sure if this is just my compact, but the actual highlighter itself doesn't feel 100% secure in the packaging, I can move and wobble the pan side to side.
I purchased my Mary-Lou Manizer for £14, original price £17.50, from Feel Unique during a sale - they have them quite regularly so just be patient and you could snag yours with a discount too.
What are your thoughts on this highlighter?

I love this one so much. I hate that it's so expensive though. I dropped mine a few days ago and it's all broken up. But I can still use it though. if it was cheaper I would buy a new one, but it just still contains too much product to just throw it away :( x

Aww no that's terrible :( I'm worried mine going to fall out as its so loose. Yeah definitely not a cheap one to replace! Could you try fixing it with rubbing alcohol? Lauren x

ReplyDeleteI don't know, the whole thing just came out of the packaging. The sides are crushed but most of it is still intact. It just looks crap now, haha. Doesn't stop me from using it though. Just be careful with it will ya, so this doesn't happen to you :) x
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I have been looking for an intense highlight and this looks amazing!!! :D

I've wanted to get my hands on this for ages but have so many highlighters and actually a very similar golden one from Topshop. I agree now in winter with my skin being that bit paler a light hand works best x
ReplyDeleteA Topshop highlighter? I had no idea they'd branched out, last time I went in it was all lipsticks and nail stuff :o xo
ReplyDeleteYes it does but this one looks slightly more pigmented. I blogged about it here...http://heartoceansecrets.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/topshop-sunbeam-highlighter.html
ReplyDeleteI'm terrible for buying highlighters!
Rachel xx
God I missing out on some potentially good highlighters! I dont blame you, everyone loves a good highlighter :) xo
