Porcelain Queen Archives | Girl Meets Pearl | #3

Hi Beauty Lovers!

Sorry its been a while beauties, I was plagued with a migraine all bank holiday weekend so I couldn't write any posts, but I'm back with a pearl of a post...pun intended!

Today is another addition to my Porcelain Queen Archives series, you can read my previous posts by clicking the links below...

Archives #1 | Archives #2

You can also read my original review here
Benefit Girl Meets Pearl was the first liquid luminous primer I ever bought, I remember it being released whilst I was at university, my friends and I got all excited for its impending release and all bought it together from Debenhams, ahh that was the life.

This past year I've really step up my base game, gone are the days of a one dimensional face, and here are the days of precisely placed bronze and glow. This primer has really become my multitasking best friend and I've reached for it that many times I've nearly used it all *ultimate sad face*

There's no better feeling than applying liquid pearl on your face and admiring your subtle glow. I know this product is on the pricey side, but the quality of the product and the finish it gives you is unrivalled.

Its safe to say I still adore this product as much as I did when I originally reviewed it.

Have you tried this product?

I'm NYX Blogger of the Month | Brow Shaper & Slim Eye Pencil | Review & Swatches

Hi Beauty Lovers!

I'm back with my second and very sadly last post as NYX Blogger of the month, I'm so grateful to have had this opportunity and hopefully they'll have me back again another month. Todays post features two amazing products fit for any beauty lover.

Top - NYX Slim Eye Pencil 'Silver Glitter' £3.50* | Bottom - NYX Eyebrow Shaper £8.00*

This wax based eyebrow shaper has changed my life, or that of my brows. This wax pencil makes my brow powder so much more intense and also gives them a bit of volume which you don't get from a brow gel. The wax is clear so doesn't interfere with your surrounding makeup and the pointed pencil end makes application precise and effortless.

Through trial and error I've found the best way to apply this product is by sweeping it once or twice through the tail of your brows and leaving the front fluffy, this gives the most natural looking brows. If you want a more intense look then you can still apply your chosen eyebrow gel, but I find the wax and powder works perfectly for me.

I haven't needed to sharpen the pencil yet but I'm nervously awaiting the day I finally need to take the plunge. Please let me know your successes and disasters in sharpening wax pencils in the comments below.

I never thought wax was for me but I'm a converted lady...I love it!
If your a regular reader here on Porcelain Queen or follow my Instagram, you will have already seen this gorgeous Silver Glitter Slim Eye Pencil in action, I created my monochrome winged liner look based around this pencil.

The glitter is jam packed in this galactic pencil, however it didn't irritate my eyes, even wearing on my water line. It can be quite hard to work with unless you roll in your hands to warm the product up, then it applies more seamlessly.

I cant believe how wearable silver can be, it really complements my pale, cool complexion. Silver can be a daunting shade, however adding it in the right amounts and to the right places can really make your eyes pop.

How do you wear silver? Let me know in the comments below.

ELF Studio Cream Blusher | Swatches & Review

Hi Beauty Lovers!

Todays post is all about the fear invoking product that is cream blusher, I've had this +e.l.f. Cosmetics cream blusher for a fair few months now, but its always intimidated me, it wasn't until these recent warmer days that I've opted to use more sheer products, one of those being this blush.
E.L.F Studio Cream Blush 'Flirt' | RRP £6.50

Sheer and cream blush are three words I thought I'd never utter, however the sun seems to be agreeing with my skin, now I'm not about to go au naturel, however I have swapped my heavy duty foundation for my Bourjois Happy Light foundation.

This cream blusher may look scary, and you would most definitely be spot on, however if you use a gentle hand, this product will give you a light and natural wash of colour. Coming from a self confessed blusherphobe must tell you how easy and simple this product is to apply. The colour is very buildable without appearing thick and cakey, when applying always think less is more and you cannot go wrong. I don't think E.L.F advertise this as waterproof, but it require some serious elbow grease to remove, making it incredibly long wearing.

The packaging is absolutely huge, this would last you a lifetime, for the small amount of product you actually need you'd never hit pan. The price is very affordable, and E.L.F always have fabulous offers for you to take advantage of.

Have you tried cream blushers? What are your thoughts?

R & Co Bel Air Hair Care | Review

Hi Beauty Lovers!

It's been a while since I've done a hair care review so I thought I'd spice things up and talk about a sample I was given on my first visit to Space NK.

I've put off doing this review for a while because well honestly I didn't think this shampoo conditioner combo would be good for my hair, mainly due to the small sample size, but my socks have been pleasantly knocked off!
Left | R + Co 'Bel Air' Smoothing Shampoo * | RRP £22
Right |  R + Co 'Bel Air' Smoothing Conditoner* | RRP £23

Can I just start by saying how amazing the packaging is, I love the images, each hair care collection has it's own imagery, all which are stunning, and a welcome change from the current bottles found on the hair care shelves.

Each formula is paraben free, these nasty molecules prevent the growth of microorganisms within cosmetics and hair care products, at first glace they sound helpful, however the level of paraben found in cancerous tumours is the same as that found in a standard size conditioner...not helpful at all! They also don't contain sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) which is the skin irritating, foaming agent found in everything from tooth paste to hand wash.

On first impressions the shampoo was thick and gloopy, similar in consistency to a thick hair mask, I found this made it hard to massage it into my hair. I found the shampoo didn't foam what so ever, this would be the lack of SLS, this did give me the impression that my hair wasn't truly clean. The conditioner was even thicker but I do like my conditioners to be thick, it gives me the impression they're more smoothing and conditioning. I worked it through the ends and the little that was left I smoothed over my roots. After rinsing I noticed my hair felt a lot rougher than after my usual routine, but it somehow felt stronger. I left my hair to dry naturally as I normally would and that was when  the magic happened. My hair did not frizz one bit, and my hair usually poofs and frizzes after a hair mask, leave in conditioner and serum.

Strictly on first impressions alone I'm loving the R+Co 'Bel Air' range, its made my hair thicker and lighter after just one wash, probably due to the lack of product in my hair. Sadly this product will have to stay on my wish list, the hefty price tag sadly puts me off purchasing the full size bottles.

Have you tried any R+Co products? What were you thoughts?

Im NYX Blogger of the Month | Bronzer & Blusher Duo & Aqua Luxe Lipstick Review

Hi Beauty Lovers!

Todays post is my most exciting to date *drum roll*... I'm +NYX Cosmetics blogger of the month! There's nothing more rewarding to a beauty blogger than to have the recognition of an amazing company, and let me tell you when I read the email giving me the amazing news my heart skipped a beat.

In the past NYX has been no stranger here on Porcelain Queen, you can read all about my first ever NYX haul here, and my love of Jumbo Eye Pencils here.

Left - NYX Bronzer & Blusher Combo 'Ibiza'* | Right - NYX Glam Lipstick Aqua Luxe 'Pink Jewel' *

I have shamefully admitted in the past that blusher and bronzer slightly fill me with dread, this is something that I have been working on, now I'm not saying I'm a contoured goddess like Kim Kardashian but I have taught myself the perfect technique for my face shape and complexion.

I absolutely love the name of this compact as soon as I saw it I knew it was for me, the bronzer is light and flat tan brown, and the blusher is the perfect pop of shimmery frosted pink. The bronzer is very similar to Bobbi Brown Bronzing powder in Golden Light, it is subtle and ideal for porcelain complexions. It is easily built upon if you prefer to enhance your cheek bones slightly more.

The blusher from this compact is absolute perfection, it is the perfect balance between a pale frosty pink blush and a golden yellow illuminator. I find that there is no need for a highlight when wearing this blush, its a two in one product, in fact the compact is a contouring masterpiece in one palm size palette.
Left - Swatches from the NYX 'Ibiza' Bronzer & Blusher Combo

NYX lipsticks have been on my radar for a while now, I fell in love with the Macroon Lippies, especially the Early Grey and Lavender shades, urgh to die for! I've seen Youtubers and Beauty Bloggers use the NYX lipsticks hundreds of  over, but shamefully until now I didn't own a single one.

The lipstick that I have is Pink Jewel and is part of the Aqua Luxe range, there's 12 iridescent and sparkle packed shades to suit everyone and anyone. Pink Jewel is a medium shade pink with a silver reflective shimmer, it suits my cool and pale complexion down to the ground.

My first and only worry was the size of the shimmer particles, lets be honest we all want shimmer without chunks of glitter. My worries soon melted away as soon as the buttery formula touched my lips, this is by far one of the smoothest lipsticks I've ever used. This isn't the most subtle of shimmers, so those who like there shimmer on the down low might want to choose another shade, however I really like the finish it gives.

I hope you've all enjoyed my first instalment as NYX blogger of the month, I'll be back later in the month with two more products to share with you.

Let me know which NYX products you love and cant live without

Porcelain Queen Archives | Revlon Lip Butters | #2

Hi Beauty Lovers!

Today I'm sharing with you another instalment from my Porcelain Queen Archives, and that is the Revlon Colourburst  Lip Butters. You can see the original post here.
Top - Wild Watermelon | Bottom - Candy Apple

I have the shades Candy Apple, which is a slightly orange undertoned red, and Wild Watermelon which is a fuchsia pink almost red shade. Since first discovering I could pull of the orange undertoned Candy Apple I've worn the hell out of it, as you can see from the photograph its been a firm favourite of mine.

I love the much needed moisture it gives my lips and the sheer colour it provides. The Revlon Colourburst Butter's come in 21 shades and are a great dupe for the Benefit Benebalm, however the Colourburst's have slightly more colour pay off.

These are a great alternate to wearing heavy lipstick during hot summer days, they provide your lips with a wash of colour and deter dryness.

These gorgeous butters are currently on offer at Boots, you can buy one and get one half price, but ssshh don't tell everyone!

MAC Violet & Fuchsia Pigments | Swatches & Review

Hi Beauty Lovers!

It struck me recently that two of my most prized makeup products have never had there 15 minutes of fame here on my blog. My MAC pigments have featured in other posts, but they've never had their own dedicated post detailing why there awesome...and they definitely are!
Left - Violet | Right - Fuchsia

For as long as knew MAC pigments existed I knew I needed one or two in my life, there renown for there super pigmentation and lust worthy colours. I honestly don't know what I was thinking when I bought Fuchsia or Violet, they were definitely an impulse buy, however they have a special place in my heart.

MAC pigments are so finely milled that they can be used for absolutely anything and everything, from a bright eyeliner to adding an extra pop to a blusher.

I think everyone has that one MAC product they hold dear to there heart, but I greedily have two.

What's your special MAC product?

Lauren
