Packing for Your Summer Holidays | Tips and Ideas

Hi Beauty Lovers!

This is my last post before I jet off on my holidays and I thought it was a perfect one to share with you after experiencing many a fraught packing session. I will still be posting whilst I'm away but only twice weekly.

Miniatures // holidays are the time to pile all your miniatures together and pick your favourites, this way you can take more but save space. Whether you're jetting off for a week or two there are some products you simply do not need in full size, I'm talking eye primers, blushers, bronzers, eye liners. I have samples of Benefit tints, Urban Decay Primer Potion and 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencils, all which will be coming with me.

Multitaskers // take products which are jack of all trades, Benefit Girl Meets Pearl is a highlighter and a primer, Illamasqua Precision Gel Liner is a gel liner gentle enough to be used to on the water line and Illamasqua Sealing Gel turns any powder into a waterproof liquid, perfect for making eyeliners. Taking products with more than once use not only saves space but gives your more makeup opportunities.

Subtlety is Key // unless you become enviably sun kissed and tanned after a day lounging in the sun, be mindful that your normal highlighter might interact with your lobster like redness, so chose wisely, I highly recommend MAC Soft and Gentle.

Favourites // we all have those products laying in the depths of our makeup collection that we'll get round to using some day soon, well these are the exact products to avoid when packing. Take your favourite products that you know without a doubt you'll wear. Don't waste space on 'some day' products. I know without a doubt Red Cherry #DW are my favourite evening eyelashes so they'll be the only pair I take.

The Best of the Bunch // I'm sure I speak for every beauty addict out there when I say, we do not have a single perfect palette, so with that in mind make sure you choose your favourite all rounder eyeshadow palette, mine is Urban Decay Naked 2. You can always compensate by taking a few single eyeshadows. As the Naked 2 palette doesn't have a great transitional colour for my skin tone I'll be taking my single Beaches and Cream eyeshadow by Makeup Geek.

Finishes // Be wary of your products finishes, dewy foundations mixed with heat can leave you looking a hot mess, so pack a selection of finishes to pick and choose from. In addition to MAC Prep and Prime loose powder I'll be packing MAC Studio Fix Powder for the nights when I need to cover additional redness.

Respect the Rules // don't be tempted to pack foundations and other beauty liquids in your hand luggage, on too many occasions I've seen women blow steam out their ears when there foundation and perfume has been confiscated.

Pack Safely // my last beauty tip is pack your makeup safe and sound, the airport staff will not loose sleep over a few broken eyeshadows, but you sure will. I always take my powders in my hand luggage, this way I know there safe and sound and well protected. If you prefer to pack you makeup in your case then make sure there in the middle of your case swaddled in your thickest beach towel.

I hope you picked up a few tips and tricks from this post, if you have any of your own please share in the comments.
